The “Big Thinker” Scholarship

The Christine Williams Wyatt Family Foundation is pleased to invite graduating Proviso Township District 209 high school seniors to apply for a “Big Thinker” academic scholarship. Each scholarship is a $1,000 award. We desire to award students with “Big” dreams and aspirations who plan to attend a two or four-year college, university, or vocational school upon graduating high school. We’re interested in learning more about your career goals, how you intend to reach them, and the qualities you have developed that will help you succeed.

Marelin Arteaga

Marelin is a high-achieving senior at Proviso West High School committed to pursuing a degree in health science technology and becoming an obstetric ultrasound technician, motivated in part by personal loss in her family and a desire to honor loved ones. She has maintained exceptional academic performance, earned a 5.077 GPA, and actively contributed to her school and community through numerous clubs and volunteer organizations. As a first-generation college student, Marelin demonstrates determination, resilience, and a clear vision for using her education to make a meaningful impact in the medical field. Marelin plans to attend Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Lailah Little

Lailah is a lifelong science enthusiast whose passion for astrophysics began in childhood and has only intensified with time. She is a student at Proviso East High School driven by a deep love for math, physics, and teaching, with ambitions to become a research astrophysicist, professor, and science communicator. Ultimately, Lailah’s curiosity reaches beyond academics—she dreams of experiencing space firsthand to better understand humanity’s place in the universe. Lailah plans to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Treavon McKay

Treavon is a highly motivated and patriotic student at Proviso West High School whose primary career goal is to join the U.S. Army, ultimately aspiring to serve in the Honor Guard and become a tomb guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He is committed to self-improvement—working toward his target ASVAB score, planning to join ROTC in college, and pursuing broad academic interests ranging from psychology and engineering to history and architecture. Long-term, Treavon hopes to become an architect who designs buildings and vehicles, showing both ambition and a genuine desire to learn across multiple fields. Treavon plans to attend Triton College in Melrose Park, Illinois.

Amya Branch

Amya is a determined student at Proviso West High School who used societal doubt and the challenges of growing up in an underfunded Chicago suburb as motivation to excel academically. Through a transformative entrepreneurship course, she discovered a passion for Finance that aligns with her strengths in math and interest in business. Driven by ambition and a desire to improve the economy, Amya aims to begin her career as a Financial Analyst or Advisor and ultimately become a Chief Financial Officer. Amya plans to attend Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
